It takes an experienced team of canvas workers to accurately measure and create a working pattern to use back in the shop.
Each and every cut-out for halyards, shrouds and chocks needs to be carefully noted and positioned. Complex shapes (as around an overhanging anchor) need to be shaped as well.
Finally, careful attention to areas of chafe need to be noted for appropriate reinforcement. Many canvas shops are not up to the challenge: for us, it's all in a day's work.
